Where did you purchase your clamp kit ? I am looking for one like yours that will fit small mills (e.g. TAIG & Sherline) but all I have found are kits that fit the X3 and larger.

Thanks!

John

I'm using a "Step Block Hold-down Set, P/N 3013" from Sherline. You may want to contact a dealer near you. Hope that helps.

Hi great looking cover is it possible to mak the longer i am looking to cover a leadscrew about a 1 meter long

I do not think one meter long in one piece would be stable enough. Pro machines have them in 2 or 3 parts connected between them with a few screws and nuts to a same clamp as described.

Great video. After seeing this, I experimented with paper before trying it on plastic.
If you fold the cover longways, at the inside edge of the zig-zags on each side, you end up with a flat-topped waycover, and don't have to reverse the folds of the outer edges.
A picture would probably help explain that. :) Try it with paper first.

This is how the waycovers are on two of the EDM machines where I work. It seems to make a stronger cover, that doesn't try to flare at the bottom as much.

I'm still not really sure about what kind of "paper" or plastic sheet to use for the bellows. Tracing paper just doesn't seem tough enough to get soaked with coolant and flying hot chips. I saw a reference to some kind of art-supply mylar or something...? It's a tough combination of being foldable, flexible, and tough enough -- without breaking at the folds from repeated flexing.... Any thoughts?

I have tried paper, file folder stock, and plastics of various thicknesses. All but the heaviest plastics worked okay. The file folder stock was the most flexible but I worry about the oil eventually weakening it. Exactly what was the stock you used? What was the composition and what was the thickness in mils? A brand name and source of supply would be helpful as well. Thanks.

Thank you for posting the instructions for the leadscrew cover! They are exactly what I'm looking for and the directions are very clear and easy to follow. Thanks again!
